Architect for new building
The central theme for the new 180,000 sq.ft. museum is to tell the "Story of Texas" through an engaging and immersive visitor experience. The Museum’s grand, civic aesthetic is intended to harmonize with the historical architectural character of the Texas State Capitol Building, the main architectural symbol of Texas located within view a few blocks away. The Museum’s massing steps back at its important corner site to frame better views of the Capitol as well as to create a welcoming urban plaza space at the museum’s entrance.
